An Indiana state senator is under fire for sharing a controversial Facebook meme describing the Women’s March protests over the weekend as “fat women out walking.”
State Sen. Jack Sandlin, a Republican, shared a Facebook post on his account featuring a photo of the Women’s March in Washington, along with the caption: “In one day Trump got more fat women out walking than Michelle Obama did in 8 years,” a reference to the former First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign against childhood obesity.
Social media users flagged the post and vented their outrage at Sandlin. Many urged Indiana citizens to call his office and vote him out in the next election.

Sandlin deleted the controversial post about two hours after it appeared on his Facebook feed, but not before screenshots had been widely shared on social media platforms. The first-term state senator posted another message on Facebook denying knowledge of the meme.
“Apparently there is an offensive post on Facebook that’s attributed to me about women in Washington marching,” Sandlin wrote. “Not sure how that ended up on my Facebook wall but that certainly does not reflect my opinion of women. People who know me will know that’s not my view.”
