Hillary Clinton is having a bad month of September. The FBI released an unflattering summary of its investigation into the former secretary of state’s secretive email practices, and over the weekend Hillary nearly collapsed at a 9/11 memorial event, after which we learned she was recently diagnosed with pneumonia.
Hillary’s supporters can’t be happy with the way the last several weeks have gone, and they certainly won’t like the trend line of recent polls, which show her lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump evaporating. Here’s a chart showing the Real Clear Politics polling average over the last 30 days.
Clinton’s lead has fallen by an average of about seven points, to an average of just 2.4 points, which is within the margin of error of most polls.
An NBC News polls published Tuesday found that Clinton’s lead over Trump in a head-to-head matchup fell two points since last week.
That same poll found that when respondents were given the option of choosing a third-party candidate, Hillary’s lead narrowed to just two points — with Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson pulling in 11 percent, which is close to the threshold he would need to qualify for the debates.
What should really worry Hillary and her supporters is the poll’s finding that voters dislike her almost as much as they dislike Trump.
No, wait. It gets worse. Some daily tracking polls are beginning to show Trump overtaking Clinton.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is taking time off to recover amid mounting concerns about her health, and the first presidential debate is less than two weeks the way.
