Hillary Clinton Buys Out Hamilton for a Campaign Fundraiser

Hillary Clinton might not be doing much to help herself of late, but she’s at least trying to help you snag Broadway’s hottest ticket. For a mere $2,700 donation to Hillary’s campaign, you can “be in the room where it happens” — a very special performance of Hamilton on July 12.

The campaign is offering several options to enjoy the show and meet the candidate, including a $10,000 package that includes a meet and greet and a $33,400 package that includes an invite to a wrap party with the cast.

Eagle-eyed Hamilton fans will notice that the fundraiser comes just days after Lin-Manuel Miranda and several other original cast members will have their final performance with the show, July 9.

Unfortunately for Clinton supporters, Miranda won’t be hanging around to help Hillary; he’s headed to the UK to begin production on Mary Poppins.

Hillary Clinton, who by all accounts has not seen the show, is trying desperately to hitch her campaign to Hamilton’s star. Accompanying the event is a contest offering Hillary supporters a chance to “live history” by seeing the show and meeting the female Presidential candidate. And rumor has it, Clinton is desperately haggling with the Hamilton cast to arrange a live, prime time performance during the Democratic National Convention.

Hamilton isn’t necessarily opposed to being used as a political tool (although Alexander Hamilton might have been). They’ve already held a special performance for the DNC and have responded to several invitations from President Obama.
