Hillary Clinton has denounced Max Blumenthal, son of her “old friend” and longtime adviser Sidney Blumenthal, for his disparaging remarks about renowned Jewish author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, who passed away earlier this month.

“Secretary Clinton emphatically rejects these offensive, hateful, and patently absurd statements about Elie Wiesel,” said Jake Sullivan, senior policy advisor to Hillary Clinton, in a statement to The Jerusalem Post.

“She believes they are wrong in all senses of the term. She believes that Max Blumenthal and others should cease and desist in making them,” Sullivan added. “Elie Wiesel was a hero to her as he was to so many, and she will keep doing everything she can to honor his memory and to carry his message forward.”

Max is the son of Sidney Blumenthal, the longtime Clinton confidante (an obsequious suck-up) who continued to advise Hillary on politics and Middle East affairs during her time as secretary of state even after the Obama administration banned her from hiring him as an official aide. Instead, Sid Blumenthal landed a $10,000-a-month gig at the Clinton Foundation, and oversaw a rogue intelligence operation on the side.

Released emails show that Clinton and Sid Blumenthal were in constant contact and corresponded regularly about Max’s career as a journalist and author. Blumenthal routinely emailed Max’s latest work to Clinton, which she would then forward to an aide and request that the articles be printed out.

Hillary was a big fan of Max Blumenthal’s first book, Republican Gomorrah. “I just finished the book and it’s great. Congrats to all!” she wrote in an email to Sid Blumenthal in 2009. Clinton followed up in an email days later, wondering if Max’s book was “still rising up the best seller list?”

Max Blumenthal published another book in 2013, titled Goliath, which earned a spot on the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s list of Top Ten Anti-Semitic / Anti-Israel Slurs of 2013. He has been widely criticized for previous remarks deemed disparaging of the Jewish state.
