Hillary Clinton may still be taking it easy, spending much of her time away from the campaign trail, but Clinton campaign fundraisers aiming for a massive October haul, with at least one star-studded New York fundraiser set to bring together everyone from Julia Roberts to Lin-Manuel Miranda.
October 17, Broadway’s brightest stars will call out their understudies while they help raise money for the Hillary Victory Fund and the Democratic National Committee. Billy Crystal and Chelsea Clinton will host the event, which will feature “performances and appearances” from Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Bernadette Peters, Neil Patrick Harris, Helen Mirren and the Tony winning stars of Broadway’s Hamilton (including Miranda himself).
The event will be directed and produced by some of Broadway’s biggest behind-the-scenes names, including director Michael Mayer, and scriptwriter John Guare.
Hillary Clinton herself, however, is not scheduled to appear. After two stops in battleground state Ohio on Monday, she is restricting her public appearances to two celebrity events — one on Tuesday in Pennsylvania with Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, and one hosted by Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria in DC on Wednesday.
After that, Clinton disappears from the trail until after the second debate on October 19.
Tickets for the Broadway event start at $45 for a “student rate” ticket — which will get you a seat in the nosebleed section of the St. James theater. To rub elbows with Broadway’s elite (and get a seat with a view), you’ll have to shell out at least $5,000. For a cool $100,000, you can be an “event producer,” earning yourself several tickets to the event, two tickets to the wrap party, and a special shout out in the Playbill.
