Hillary Clinton’s refusal to believe Monica Lewinsky’s allegations against her husband is evidence that she is “too stupid to be president,” former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani said Monday night following the debate.
Giuliani made his remarks while attempting to defend Donald Trump against allegations of sexism, arguing that Trump was a “feminist.” The former mayor suggested Trump should have brought up Bill Clinton’s past infidelity, and Hillary’s role in attacking his mistresses, during the debate.
“I sure would’ve talked about what she did to Monica Lewinsky, what that woman standing there did to Monica Lewinsky, trying to paint her as an insane young woman when in fact Monica Lewinsky was an intern,” Giuliani said. “The president of the United States, her husband, disgraced this country with what he did in the Oval Office and she didn’t just stand by him, she attacked Monica Lewinsky. And after being married to Bill Clinton for 20 years, if you didn’t know the moment Monica Lewinsky said that Bill Clinton violated her that she was telling the truth, then you’re too stupid to be president.”
Hillary is alleged to have lashed out at Monica during the late-1990s sex scandal, referring to the former White House intern as a “narcissistic looney tune.”
Trump caused a mild stir prior to the first presidential debate when he floated the idea of inviting confirmed Clinton mistress Gennifer Flowers to sit in the front row. In the end, Flowers was not invited to attend.
