If students want to follow in Donald Trump’s footsteps by going to Wharton, they’ll probably end up taking classes in Penn Biden Hall, named for former Vice President Joe Biden, who will spend his retirement teaching there.
According to an announcement made Tuesday, the former Veep will split his time between UPenn, where he’ll teach seminar classes on foreign policy, national security, and diplomacy, and the University of Delaware, where he’ll head up an institute focused on “public policy solutions.”
Biden will spend most of his time at Penn, where he’ll keep an office in the new Pen Biden Center, and teach at a number of Penn’s schools, including the Wharton Business School (Trump’s much-boasted-of alma mater).
His focus, though, will be teaching the fine art of interacting with other cultures, something Biden has proven expertise in. Throughout his tenure as Vice President, Biden was constantly improving our relationships with key allies through his brusque, often off-the-cuff commentary.
UPenn was unfazed by Biden’s record, and in a statement Tuesday, called the former Vice President one of the “greatest statemen of our times.” Biden, himself, is excited to instruct the next generation of world leaders— and maybe attend a few frat parties for “oversight purposes.”
“The Penn Biden Center and I will be engaging with Penn’s wonderful students while partnering with its eminent faculty and global centers to convene world leaders, develop and advance smart policy, and impact the national debate about how America can continue to lead in the 21st century,” he said in his press release.
In his spare time, Biden will chair his cancer research foundation and polish his firebird in his driveway. Probably.
