Chat show host and comedienne Chelsea Handler is embracing politics, emerging as a leading anti-Trump activist, conveniently at a time when her much-hyped Netflix show is tanking.
Handler will lead the Women’s March at the Sundance Film Festival. She had promised to leave the country if Trump got elected but according to Variety, “she came to work on her Netflix talk show in Culver City and saw the faces of her staff. The millennial women in her office hugged her and begged her not to retreat. ‘They all just said, ‘You’re our only outlet. You’re our mouthpiece.’”
(Swap “outlet” for “job” and she might just be onto something.)
Handler blames the Kardashians for Trump’s election victory. “Stop covering [Trump] so much,” she added to Variety. “They were treating him as an entertainer first. It was a reality show. We’ve turned into a reality show. I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal. Everyone is for sale.”
Handler’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. In March 2013 Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, together with their mother Kris Jenner, guest hosted her E! TV show Chelsea Lately.
Khloé Kardashian was a guest on her show back in July where they discussed…Donald Trump.
Obviously the reasons for Trump’s victory go way beyond the existence of the Jenners and Kardashians. So what lies behind Handler’s mad political prognosis?
Could it be our old friend liberal guilt?
