For Hillary supporters, today feels like a bad dream. It also marks the start of a quest for somebody to blame.
Think perhaps the candidate herself is to blame? Obviously not! Give these guys a try:
1. James Comey
For some of Team Clinton, their candidate was doing just fine until a fateful letter just over a week ago brought it all crashing down.
When you look at the likely narrow margin of Clinton's defeat, it's pretty safe to say that the Comey letter tipped the balance
— Michael Cohen (@speechboy71) November 9, 2016
I asked D strategist close to Clinton WTF is going on. Response "One word: Comey."
— Chris Cillizza (@TheFix) November 9, 2016
If Trump wins, I suspect he owes a big "thank you" to Jim Comey

2. The electoral college
At 9am this morning, Clinton had amassed 59,204,408 votes nationally, to Trump’s 59,058,307 — putting her technically ahead. But, like Gore in 2000, Clinton is the second democratic candidate to lose a national election while having won the popular vote. So the Democrats’ solution? Abolish it.

Clinton is now up in popular vote, 59.23 to 59.08 million. Democrats, when they get power back one day, will abolish the Electoral College.
— Seth Kaplan (@Seth_Kaplan) November 9, 2016
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. We are stuck with Trump because of the antiquated electoral college system. #imstillwithher

Latest numbers : #Clinton 47.6% / #Trump 47.5%
Let's talk about electoral college… pic.twitter.com/EXyYwQHPaE— Martin Grandjean (@GrandjeanMartin) November 9, 2016
3. Anthony Weiner
Disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner, whose alleged sexually explicit chats with a 15-year-old girl prompted the FBI’s second investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails, has turned into number one whipping boy for sulky Democrats. Bill Maher recently lashed out at Weiner calling “the c*ck that ended the world” and said he would “f*cking kill” him if Hillary Clinton lost the election.
Do they have safe houses in rehab centers?
Who knew that 20 years later, a Weiner would have brought down the Clinton dynasty?

Say a prayer for Huma Abedin this morning. Both her family and her career are in tatters, and for the same reason. pic.twitter.com/03MRpTGI06

4. Wikileaks and Julian Assange
Have just unfollowed Wikileaks. They can go fuck themselves. Did not like Trump or Clinton, but Wikileaks got involved. Crossed a line.
— Ysabelle Stewart (@YsabelleStewart) November 9, 2016
Memes may be the reason Trump won, but @wikileaks is why Clinton lost, and that's the important thing.
Thank you, Julian Assange.
— One-Pun Man (@blackbird7958) November 9, 2016
Trump should give Assange a job on his media team – because @wikileaks killed Clinton chances
— Cliffsull (@cliffsull) November 9, 2016
5. Third-party voters
Hillary supporters were quick to chastise third party voters who chose to cast their ballot for libertarian and green party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, assuming this was a vote wasted on Hillary.
If the 3% who voted for Johnson had voted for Clinton, this wouldn't be happening. Why do people waste their votes??
— Siobhán (@emmasiobhan_) November 9, 2016
Hillary Clinton is down by 2 million popular votes. Gary Johnson has 2.5mil votes. THIS👏WAS👏NOT👏THE👏ELECTION👏TO👏WASTE👏YOUR👏VOTE👏
— lizzie (@itsliz_ess) November 9, 2016
if all the votes that went to johnson in FL had gone to clinton instead, she'd be winning there. this is why 3rd party is a waste of time
— Olivia Talmadge (@oliviatalmadge) November 9, 2016
CBS just asked "Was Gary Johnson a spoiler for Hillary Clinton?"
Please reject their license to talk about politics ever. #ElectionNight

6. The media
Oh the irony.
Every media outlet that obsessively covered the Clinton email non-story should be doing some serious soul-searching right now.
— Jill Filipovic (@JillFilipovic) November 9, 2016
Media spent the last year holding Clinton to the fire and treating Trump like a TV star. They're responsible for this bullshit too.
— Shyne Coldchain Jr. (@Smooth_Orator) November 9, 2016
There is a toasty place in hell for the members of the media who peddled the false narrative that Clinton and Trump were equally corrupt.
— Caitlin Doughty (@TheGoodDeath) November 9, 2016
7. Sexism
That one was inevitable. Liberal pundits and democratic supporters are saying sexism and the (decidedly impenetrable) glass ceiling are to blame for Hillary Clinton’s defeat.
.@enargins I supported @HillaryClinton bc she’s by far the most qualified candidate. But I DO believe sexism plays a big part in why we lost
— Yvonne Haugen (@yvonnehaugen) November 9, 2016
Sexism, racism, & hate win. I am so sorry, @HillaryClinton. #Disbelief #Sad #Scared https://t.co/2ldlje9ITA
— Karen Baglin (@KarenBaglin) November 9, 2016
My broken heart is with you @HillaryClinton. Sexism is deeper than any of us knew. #wewillrise
— Kelsey McManus (@McManusKelsey) November 9, 2016
The greatest lost in American history is @HillaryClinton lost her presidential campaign. Lost to sexism, the glass ceiling, and to bigot
— Cherie Wong (@cherblackjai) November 9, 2016
8. Everything
Shameful for media not to mention Russia/Putin, Wikileaks/Assange, FBI/Comey when talking about Clinton loss. Oh, and she's a woman. @kasie
