Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslim immigration until the U.S. government can “figure out what’s going on” is certainly a divisive issue, but it’s actually pretty popular, according to a recent poll.

An NBC News/SurveryMonkey poll published Thursday showed that 50% of respondents supported a ban on Muslim immigration, while 46% were opposed.

Trump reiterated his call for the immigration ban in the wake of the deadly terrorist attack at a gay club in Orlando that left 49 dead and dozens injured.

“”We have to do it,” Trump said at a campaign rally in New Hampshire earlier this week. “They’re pouring in and we don’t know what we’re doing.”

Not all Republicans, however, are on board with the proposal. House Speaker Paul Ryan, who has reluctantly endorsed Trump, told reporters a ban on Muslim immigration would not be “in our country’s interests” or “reflective of our principles.”

Trump himself remains historically unpopular.
