Donald Trump Wants Ben Carson to Choose His Running Mate

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump will ask his former opponent, Dr. Ben Carson, to help him choose a running mate, the New York Times reports.

Trump said in an interview on Wednesday that he planned to set up a vice presidential selection committee “soon,” and the group would include “Ben Carson and some other folks.”

Trump made headlines earlier in the GOP primary by accusing Carson of having “pathological disease,” and comparing the brain surgeon to a child molester.

Since dropping out of the race in March, Carson has become one of the worst political surrogates of all time. “Is there another scenario that I would have preferred? Yes,” Carson has said of his decision to endorse Trump. “But that scenario isn’t available.”
