Trump is going to be President literally tomorrow. It’s happening, people.

But some millennials are still desperate to believe the inevitable can be averted, and that their man Bernie Sanders could yet ascend to the White House.

College-based website The Tab yesterday published a news report/fever dream headlined “Bernie Sanders can still win”, keeping the dream alive.

All that needs to happen, they say, is for Donald Trump, Mike Pence, his whole cabinet and everyone else in Congress to die.

The unprecedented scenario would leave the Vermont senator as the only person with any claim on the presidency. Apparently.

Per The Tab:

It would require the deaths of all 100 US senators and all 435 of those serving in the House of Representatives for visionary Bernie Sanders to be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. He would lead a world at once weeping from the single worst political catastrophe in US history, but also rejoicing for his unique progressive politics and promise to break up the big banks.

The hypothesis did not find widespread support among political experts.

One professor told The Tab “nobody knows” what would happen in such a scenario, while another said the question of whether Bernie could yet lead the nation can only be met with “a total and unequivocal NO”.

But, for some at least, hope springs eternal.
