Shawn Lucas—the man shown cheerfully serving lawsuits to the DNC in a video gone viral last month — has died suddenly of unknown causes. Lucas’ death was confirmed to Heat Street by Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department.

The lawsuits were served in the wake of Wikileaks releasing thousands of embarrassing DNC emails — and accused the DNC of committing fraud by favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primaries. The class action lawsuits were on behalf of enraged Sanders supporters.

Lucas’ untimely death — he appears young, in good spirits and good health in the viral video — has sparked an online flurry of conspiracy theories.

According to the police report, he was found lying on his bathroom floor by his girlfriend. When paramedics arrived, they found no signs of life.

Some conspiracy theorists are already positing — with no substantiation — that Lucas’ death is part of a broader plot to “cover up” alleged crimes by the DNC or Hillary Clinton. Other recent deaths have also been drawn into this web of theories and speculation. DNC staffer Seth Rich was murdered in DC in July — his killing remains unsolved — and UN official John Ashe died in June in the New York City suburbs in an apparent weightlifting accident. He and a Chinese Clinton donor were facing criminal corruption charges. Additionally, noticeable “space economist” Molly Macauley was mysteriously stabbed to death last month in Baltimore while walking her dogs, Wilga and Leo.  These deaths and the decedents’ ties to politics and DC have been feeding into the larger conspiracy narratives bubbling up on the web.

As for Shawn Lucas, a GoFundMe page has been set up in his name and has already exceeded its $10,000 goal. The page says all funds raised will go towards Lucas’ funeral and to his family.
