How far we’ve come since Senator Joseph McCarthy. Now it’s the Democrats blaming Russian infiltrators.

Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook thinks the embarrassing leak of Democratic National Committee emails could very well have been orchestrated by Russian government hackers at the behest of the Trump campaign.

“We need to let the experts connect these dots,” Mook said Tuesday at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.

The FBI also seems to think Russia was involved in hacking into the DNC email system and releasing the emails in an effort to help Donald Trump win the election, but investigators have yet to establish a clear link between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.

Mook and others are clearly happy to distract from the devastating revelations about DNC officials actively trying to undermine the insurgent candidacy of Bernie Sanders and facilitate the coronation of Hillary Clinton, who, according to the leaked emails, likes to eat hot dogs without a bun.

Susan Sarandon has rightly called it “disgusting.”

In any event, the freakout over the DNC email hack suggests Democrats are finally acknowledging that Mitt Romney was correct in labeling Russia a threat to the United States during his 2012 presidential campaign.

At the time, however, Democrats mocked Romney relentlessly for his comments.

President Obama cracked a lame joke during one of the debates, telling Romney, “the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War has been over for 20 years.”

Perhaps Robbie Mook is just embarrassed to be running a campaign that is currently losing to Donald Trump.

Urban Dictionary defines “mook” as an individual who is an “arsehole or loser.”
