Clint Eastwood has decided to weigh in on politics again. The aging Hollywood star slammed millennials as a “p**sy generation,” and said he’d “have to go for Trump” over Hillary Clinton, in part because she has “a tough voice to listen to for four years.”
Celebrities insert themselves into the political conversation all the time, and many have weighed in on the 2016 election, but Eastwood is by far the most renowned celeb to back Trump. (Sorry, Scott Baio.) Almost every other famous person thinks Trump is bad and Hillary is good, and would undoubtedly be voting the same way even if Republicans had nominated a normal person instead.
There aren’t too many actual celebrities who would ever say a nice thing about a Republican candidate, so it’s noteworthy when it does happen, and somewhat amusing. The typical left-right dynamic is reversed. Usually conservatives are the ones expressing their displeasure, threatening to boycott a certain actor’s work, and wishing that celebrities would just shut up about politics. This angst comes in many flavors. For example:
I never liked him anyway!

I respect his talent, but he should shut up.
Re #ClintEastwood's @esquire meltdown: he's a talented actor/director. @POTUS actually got OBL & staved off a 2nd Depression. Zip it, Clint.

The fact that he won’t shut up makes me respect him less.
