Great job alert: BuzzFeed News is looking for a national reporter to cover Muslim life and Islamophobia in America https://t.co/lJ3gIdmUCD

According to the job listing, the site is looking for an experienced journalist who “will be able to capture the tensions, hopes, worries and fears of Muslims in America.” The position is open to all individuals regardless of “race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, gender identity, or sexual orientation.”

Much was written during the presidential campaign about Donald Trump was promoting “Islamophobia” by, for example, proposing a ban on immigrants from Muslim countries “until our country’s leader can figure out what’s going on.”
According to data compiled by the FBI, hate crimes against Muslim rose by 14 percent in 2014, compared to the previous year. However, the majority (57 percent) of hate crimes motivated by religious bias were committed against Jews.
BuzzFeed’s founder, Jonah Peretti, inspired a lot of social media engagement after in October when he tweeted about a conversation he allegedly had with Ivanka Trump in which the primary daughter of the president-elect discussed her desire to see “a mulatto cock.”
Surprised Ivanka would be shocked by lewd language. I met her once & she casually said: "I've never seen a mulatto cock, but I'd like to!" https://t.co/WrgCoM0MGK
