Bernie Sanders has managed to get a number of his supporters named to the committee that will draft this year’s version of the Democratic Party platform.

In what appears to be a concession to the #FeelTheBern movement that has stubbornly refused to make way for the coronation of Queen Hillary, the Democratic National Committee has given Sanders supporters five slots on the drafting committee, compared to six slots given to Hillary supporters.

One of those Bernie supporters, Cornel West, is likely to make the platform drafting process an entertaining affair, considering some of the inflammatory statements about other Democrats he has made in the past. For example:

On Barack Obama:

“A brown-faced Clinton.”

“He posed as a progressive and turned out to be counterfeit. We ended up with a Wall Street presidency, a drone presidency, a national security presidency.”

On Hillary Clinton:

“A milquetoast neoliberal.”

“Doesn’t have enough gas in the tank [to beat Donald Trump].”

“A vote for Clinton forecloses the new day for all of us and keeps us captive to the trap of wealth inequality, greed (‘everybody else is doing it’), corporate media propaganda and militarism abroad—all of which are detrimental to black America.”

Joining West on the platform committee will be Sanders’ Middle East adviser James Zogby, who has been criticized for past comments accusing Israel of perpetrating a “Holocaust” against the Palestinian people.
