When Bernie Sanders took the stage Monday night at the Democratic National Convention, he told the crowd that there was probably “no one more disappointed” than him that he failed to win the party’s nomination.
But if he’d looked out into the audience at the sea of Bernie supporters seeing their dream of socialist paradise fade, he might have called his own analysis into question. Frustrated after a day of loudly protesting DNC officials and faced with Bernie’s final hurrah, Bernie supporters at the Wells Fargo center erupted, en masse, in tears.
#CryingforBernie took social media by storm as Twitter was flooded with photos of (mostly white millennial) Sanders supporters bawling their eyes out at their hero’s speech.
God damn, there's so many crying white girls at the DNC, you'd think Bernie was in One Direction.

After ending his speech this evening, Bernie Sanders supporters will have one last opportunity to voice their support for the Vermont senator: tomorrow’s state by state roll call vote. Bernie is expected to take around a thousand delegates.
His supporters will be holding events all week to express their gratitude and frustration, including a “fart-in” on Thursday morning. Tonight, though, they’ll be slamming through boxes of environmentally friendly facial tissue.
