Ivanka Trump has been by her father’s side all the way back to day one of his presidential campaign, when Trump announced his candidacy at Trump Tower in New York. Ever since, the 34-year-old businesswoman has been present at many of Trump’s important appearances, from Scotland to Indiana and many places in between. In fact, Politico Magazine described Ivanka Trump as her father’s most influential adviser.
Donald Trump is known to keep his “business” in the family. He even went so far as to joke about making Ivanka his running mate. “I’m thinking about making Ivanka vice president,” he said on Live with Kelly & Michael last year. “She would be good, I will say.”
Ivanka, who was born in New York and says she plans to retire there as well, has come a long way since her modeling days, when she was featured in the covers of Seventeen and Harper’s Bazaar. The uber-composed member of the Trump clan is a Wharton School graduate and worked briefly for Forest City Enterprises and Dynamic Diamond Corp. before joining the family business as the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions. She can also include writer and shoe and handbag fashion designer on her resumé. Ivanka reportedly has a net worth of $150 million.
Some other tidbits about the potential first daughter:
- Ivanka says her first date with husband Jared Kushner was far from glamorous. She said the two spent their first evening at a speakeasy behind a Japanese restaurant in downtown Manhattan. “I won’t lie: it was weird,” she said in an interview with US Weekly. The couple now have three children together.
- Ivanka has more than one name. Two actually. Her real name is actually Ivana, after her mother from Trump’s first marriage. Ivanka is a diminutive form of Ivana in her mother’s native Czech language. Additionally, before marrying Kushner in 2009, she converted to Judaism and is reported to have adopted the name “Yael,” a popular Jewish women’s name.
- Ivanka isn’t only a businesswoman, fashion designer, model and writer. She is also a… ballerina? Ivanka revealed that she danced in The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center when she was young and got a taste for being on stage. Apparently she liked it and admits that she auditioned for a role in Les Miserables. “It didn’t work out,” she said.
- Ivanka reportedly donated $1,000 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign back in 2007. She also is said to have donated between $5,000 and $10,000 to the Clinton Foundation, as did her father back in the day.
- Ivanka Trump’s relationship with the Clintons goes deeper than donations. Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka, who were introduced by their husbands, hit it off and have been repeatedly spotted strolling together around the Big Apple. Sources close to both women say that they have chosen not to be seen in public together during this election period.
