You might have heard that animals sometimes behave in an bizarre ways. Fainting goats, anyone? No? How about kamikaze birds?!

It now looks like the Creepy Creatures Society has a new recruit: the circling turkey.

Footage of a flock of turkeys neatly circling around what appears to be a deceased cat in a bizarre, ritualistic dance has been making rounds on social media.

The video, posted by a Twitter user in Boston early Thursday morning with the caption “These turkeys trying to give this cat its 10th life,” has since been shared over 50,00o times.

In the clip, about a dozen turkeys can be seen slowly pacing around a dead kitten.

Animals are unpredictable and can often behave in an odd fashion. But even animal experts were flummoxed by what this unusual display. “It’s certainly unusual,” Debra Kriensky, a conservation biologist at New York City Audubon, told the New York Post.

“Circling in itself isn’t an unusual behavior for turkeys—the males sometimes circle females when getting ready to breed—it’s part of their behavioral repertoire. But it’s unusual to see so many circling a dead cat, for example.”

The cause of the cat’s death is still unknown, but foul play was ruled out.
