A pre-inauguration celebration for incoming U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday night culminated with a spectacular fireworks display. But then something weird happened. The sky glittered with a three-letter word which looked more like “USR” instead of “USA” leaving many viewers open mouthed and suspicious. Twitter exploded with jokes and new speculations that Russia had “hacked” the show.

“Break out the vodka. The fireworks just spelled out instead of USA. Thank you Russia aka USSR,” said one user. “Oh no! hacked the fireworks! ,” suggested another.

And so the conspiracy theories of Russian meddling in US fireworks took over Twitter overnight.

Russia’s RT cable TV propaganda channel went on to suggest that #USR should from now on be used whenever Russian hacking is being discussed.
