Liberals looking for love are more likely to express an interest in “yoga” and “crying” than their conservatives peers, according to a new study by the online dating website OkCupid.

The study, which analyzed data from 190,000 profiles of new users, found a number of key differences between liberals and conservatives who are “actively seeking love.”

Liberals, for example, tend to be more open with their feelings than conservatives, and are more likely to list The Daily Show, NPR, and podcasts on their dating profiles. Conservatives are more likely to mention Jesus, guns, and the Marine Corps.

Conservatives love steak, and are more likely to express an interest in the outdoors, and going to the shooting range. Liberals are vegetable lovers, and also like the outdoors, but tend to prefer using the word “nature.” They enjoy “museums, yoga, and crying.”

Words such as “atheist,” “social justice,” and “feminist,” were commonly listed on the profiles of liberal users. Conservatives tended to include words such as “country,” “fishing,” and “old fashioned.”

Half of OkCupid users, the majority of which describe themselves as liberal, said they could not date an individual whose political views differed from their own. One quarter of respondents in the study who were “looking for love” said that having similar political views was a more important factor than having physical chemistry with a potential partner.
