As the summer season heats up, Europe is preparing for the next wave of illegal immigrants coming from other countries. You hear a lot about the real time refugee problem, but what happens next in the places where these people settle?

We wanted to understand what mis-managed immigration can do to a place. So in collaboration with our partners at Free Media, we went to a place that used to be a luxury vacation spot on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Forty years ago, upper-middle class Italian families came to Porto Recanti for a taste of the good life. Now economic decline and immigrants have made this place pretty depressing, and dangerous.

It used to be chic Italians. Today it’s immigrants, drugs dealers, prostitutes, and suspected terrorists. Take a look and let us know what you think.
