The teacher’s husband, Derrick Storer, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and will have to pay a fine of $500.
According to the judge, the husband played a serious role in the crime, for which his wife was sent to prison. He was sentenced on three counts of furnishing alcohol to an underage person and will spend 90 days in jail in addition to serving two years probation after he’s released.
“Your actions put the victim in this matter in danger of harm and as a result of those actions harm actually resulted,” Judge Chad Niese said. “You’re actions justify a substantial jail sentence.”
Storer regretted his actions and the pain it caused to the victim. “This has been absolutely the worst decision I have made in my life,” he said.
His attorney, Chase Mallory, put the blame on Storer’s wife. “He has some faults of his own in this relationship. She kind of ran the house. He was the man of the house but not so much,” the attorney said.
Mallory claimed the husband didn’t want to host a house party for high school students, but his wife insisted on it. “That is ultimately where Derrick made the biggest mistake of his life,” Mallory said.
The female school teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
On Monday, Jessica Storer received the judge’s verdict after extensive trial. In a letter written by the male victim and read in court, the student said that he had since thought about suicide several times.
“I should have been able to trust her – I’m trying to get my life together,” he said.
Storer claimed the man was 18 and had helped himself to alcohol at her house. “The sexual relationship between the 18-year-old and I was a one-time thing,” she said.
Judge Randall Basinger claimed Storer didn’t understand the seriousness of the crime and was putting the blame on the teen.
Storer said: “I accept full responsibility for him drinking and for not saying ‘no’. I do feel it was consensual. It was not forced. That’s where I came in saying this should be between my husband and I, my priest and God.”
After the judge told the married woman with kids that she’s the adult, despite the man being an adult by age, Storer replied saying “I understand. I should have said no.”
A female high school teacher in Ohio is facing jail time together with her husband after she had sex with a student.
Jessica Storer, 28, had sex with one of her students from Pandora-Gilboa High School in Ohio after her husband Derrick, 33, gave alcohol to him, a court heard.
The incident occurred the morning after the pair invited the 18-year-old student and other teenagers into their house. Prosecutor Lilly Shun told the court: “Mrs. Storer engaged in sexual intercourse with the student while he was still under the influence of alcohol.”
The woman claimed the 18-year-old teenager wasn’t intoxicated, but the prosecutor disagreed, saying the student was drunk.
“I was engaged in sexual conduct with an 18-year-old student,” the accused woman said after Judge Randall Basinger asked her what happened that day.
The teacher met the victim while being a substitute teacher at Pandora-Gilboa High School, Ohio, USA. She’s now facing up to five years in jail after pleading guilty to sexual battery. Storer will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
She will receive her sentence after the judge receives background report on her.
The teacher’s husband, meanwhile, has admitted to three charges of giving alcohol to a minor and faces up to six months on each count. He will receive his sentence on May 16.
Storer was arrested back in December by Police Chief Scott Stant after getting a tip off. The student told the Police Chief that he was at her home and spent the night drinking alcohol.
The next morning the woman had sex with the student and didn’t deny it when questioned by the Police chief, according to court records.
