Maybe it’s because the present is so damned problematic but children are increasingly getting into history books—witness the popularity of the ‘Who Was/Is?’ series.
Even so, we’re intrigued to discover that a children’s book about the new President’s 35-year-old daughter will soon be published entitled Ivanka Trump: A Brand of Her Own.
The Ivanka book isn’t being self-published by a Trump supporter with a man crush on Jared Kushner. No. It’s being brought out by the Lerner Publishing Group, one of the largest independently owned children’s book publishers.
The age range on its Amazon entry states the book is intended for children between 9 and 12 years old and in 4th-7th grade at school. Therefore it’s unlikely to cover controversies such as Donald Trump’s Nordstrom tweet defending his daughter and the boycott of her clothing line to protest her father’s politics.
The Amazon blurb states: “As the daughter of newly elected US president Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump wears many hats. She is a dynamic real estate executive, a designer and entrepreneur, and a wife and mother. Read more about her fascinating life.”
The book’s pre-release price is $26.65 and although the Trump family haven’t co-operated with the publisher, you get the sense certain members of the White House-based clan would admire the Lerner Publishing Group’s attempt to cash in on recent political developments.
The author of Ivanka Trump: A Brand of Her Own is Matt Doeden whose previous books include Can You Survive a Global Blackout: An Interactive Doomsday Adventure and children’s biographies of Thomas Jefferson and Tim Tebow.
Separately Ivanka herself has a book out in May entitled Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success.
Heat Street was first to report on the book biography and we’ll be the first to report on the classroom freak-outs that are bound to occur once it hits the nation’s shelves in October.
