MSNBC correspondent Katy Tur’s relationship with President Trump is, even by the standards of left-leaning political reporters, particularly twisted and convoluted. Suffice to say that Tur is no friend of the President and spends time that she could otherwise spend on anchoring the 2 p.m. hour on MSNBC, tweeting out uncomplimentary observations about him that won’t be lining the walls of Trump Tower.

But during last night’s speech before a joint session of Congress, Tur shockingly praised him for being ‘Presidential’ after he highlighted the widow of Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens who was killed during a recent raid in Yemen:

Her liberal community of followers went ballistic in response to the tweet:

Online movie critic David Erlich responded: “exf***ingscuse me?” Another follower reckoned:”omg..someone has hacked into Katy’s account.”

Obscure composer Kerry Muzzey replied: “Seriously, you can’t be serious. Right? Come on. No no no no no. You are praising & normalizing. No. NO. NO. Stop it.”

More than one follower wondered whether Katy had been using illegal substance abuse: “Are you high? Trotting out the widow, is exploiting her. JEEEEEzus.” Another ‘friend’ alerted Katy: “Warning: When the mainstream gets seduced by this creep, it’s over.”

Except a few minutes later it wasn’t over as Katy clarified her position with three follow-up tweets:

Tur now seems to have gone back to being a sworn enemy of the President. But the incident reinforces that despite the political rulebook having been ripped up in spectacular fashion in the past 18 months, Democrats go nuclear when someone dares to not stick to the script.
