PETA is continuing its run of headline grabbing absurd stunts, with its latest campaign to get Warhammer characters to stop wearing fur. Warhammer is a tabletop game consisting of plastic figures of mythical creatures.

Some of these warriors wear animal pelts which happen to be made out of plastic. PETA believes that even though the fur is not real, the appearance of fur will give impressionable youths the idea that wearing fur is cool.

“The grimdark, battle-hardened warriors are known for their martial prowess—but wearing the skins of dead animals doesn’t take any skill,” reads PETA’s statement. “Indeed, nothing on the bloody battlefields of Warhammer’s conflict-ravaged universe could match the terrible reality that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other living beings experience at the hands of the fur trade.”

PETA also included a very on brand, horrifying video of animal cruelty to accompany the request for Warhammer to change their character designs (watch at your own risk).

Games Workshop, the creator of Warhammer, has not returned request for comment, but it’s highly unlikely removing plastic fur pelts from plastic figurines will have any impact on the real fur industry.
