Last week Heat Street reported on breaking revelations that the main character in the upcoming video game Nier: Automata, whose name is 2Bcould have a butthole. After much debate and investigation, the Internet was finally concluded that screenshots had been doctored and the butthole was a fraud all along.

Following a week of controversy, the game’s creator Yoko Taro broke his silence on the butthole (translated from Japanese by Niche Gamer):

Due to the 2B butt controversy, many outrageous drawings are being made. Collecting them to share individually is a pain. It would be great if we can group them together to make it easier to distribute them every week.

He neglected to mention whether or not the butthole was fake, but will no doubt use the sizable zip file he collected to run a thorough internal investigation.

Nier: Automata will not be released until March when the folks at home can do their own experiments and report their findings to the Heat Street feedback line.
