William Shatner is not pulling any punches in his online beef with the feminist blog The Mary Sue.
It started when The Mary Sue chastised Shatner for repeatedly joking at Montreal Comic Con “a woman’s place is in the fridge,” towards Star Trek actress Kate Mulgrew.
Shatner says the phrase is a harmless inside joke between him and Mulgrew. The Mary Sue claims it is a sexist allusion to the “women in fridges” trope, where women are killed and left in fridges to motivate male characters.
.@TheMarySue account follows me. If they truly believed it, as a girl culture site they'd be hypocrites They aren't. pic.twitter.com/1cdq8JlFqT

Apparently killing women & stuffing them in refrigerators is some kind of trope in comics. Who knew? https://t.co/Ny3bAcLU6Y

Shatner has not let up savaging the blog on his Twitter feed with such gems as:
I'm thinking of creating my own click bait, yellow journalistic site called Tropes, Tirades & Tiaras. Thoughts?

and
If you're going to be a cyber warrior for a misandrist tabloid that creates headlines for clickbait to keep the lights on; do research first

Can’t wait to see all the new hit pieces in the works calling Shatner a misogynist to learn about new esoteric tropes.
