U.S. president-elect Donald Trump has Superman in his corner – Dean Cain has revealed he voted for the controversial property tycoon.

The former Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star has told news show Access Hollywood he was among the few celebrities who helped Trump become the 45th U.S. leader earlier this month,  explaining he voted for a change.

“He has my support,” the actor said. “I was not a fan of Hillary Clinton’s… I don’t like career politicians.” And Cain admits he hasn’t been a big fan of the celebrity backlash aimed at the president-elect and running mate Mike Pence following their shock victory on 8 November.

The actor was particularly upset when Hamilton star Brandon Victor Dixon took aim at vice-president-elect Pence, an audience member, from the stage at his Broadway show last week.

“I wasn’t a big fan of the Hamilton thing… but they have the right to do so,” he added. “I did feel like they were lecturing Pence from the bully pulpit, if you will.”

Despite his voting choice, Cain insists he’s not a Republican, stating, “I don’t think I’m very far apart from most people… I voted for Bill Clinton twice, I didn’t vote for Barack Obama either time… I’m very very liberal when it comes to social policies; I do believe in gay marriage, I do believe in a woman’s right to choose, up to a point – when the foetus is viable, I no longer believe it’s something you should do.” “I’m a limited government guy…” he added. “I think this current administration, given a chance, I think it’s going to do a lot of things that I might agree with.”
