If we can get a lady Ghostbusters and a lady Oceans Eleven, gosh darn it, aren’t we woke enough to get a lady Green Ranger?

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers franchise has always been plagued by a gender gap that almost made the show unwatchable. Three men and two ladies. Then a new ranger was added, but it was a man and a white man at that. The Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver, was a nice plot device to liven up the show, but did nothing for national political progress.

Thank god the new cast of the much more woke (but kind of lousy) movie adaptation of Power Rangers are pushing for a lady Green Ranger in the first of five unnecessary and unwanted sequels.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Red Ranger, played by Dacre Montgomery, said:

A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl. It makes it even three girls, three boys…[The scene teasing the Green Ranger is] left blank. It’s a cliffhanger. Whoever you’re going to drop into that position — whether it’s a girl, it’s inevitably going to create drama. It’ll be interesting to drop that drama into it and see how we all relate to it and work with it.

But you’d think that members of a film that included an autistic and lesbian ranger would get a little more creative than a simple gender swap. What will one more woman do to stop Donald Trump and help the #resistance?

Yep, the Green Ranger should obviously be trans. A male-to-female transgender woman would be a great subtle nod to the source material, while giving the sequel a fresh and modern twist. Not to mention the original Green Ranger, played by Jason David Frank, basically looked like a chick already.
