Carlos Danger had a high-profile social assignment last night when Anthony Weiner  attended the Met Gala with his wife Huma Abedin, a senior aide to Hillary Clinton.

The disgraced former Congressman made a rare and surprising public appearance with his wife at the Met Gala—fashion’s biggest night of the year—which this year had a sci-fi theme to coincide with the Met’s new costume exhibit “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

The pair appeared as awkward as ever with Weiner grinning maniacally in a suit that seemed to be a size or two too big for him.

His long-suffering wife  looked great, though, wearing a sequined gown from New York fashion house Altuzarra.

It is highly unlikely Weiner will be gracing the red carpet for the premiere of the documentary “Weiner” when it is released in cinemas on May 20 before it airs on Showtime in October.

The documentary chronicles his disastrous New York Mayoral campaign in 2013 which was derailed by revelations he had sent explicit photos to a woman using the alias “Carlos Danger.”

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour takes a dim view of Met Gala guests spending too much time on their phones  so let’s hope Weiner switched his device off during the night’s festivities.
