Celebrity science pundit Neil deGrasse Tyson has been tweeting about the Olympic this week. As you might expect, the tweets are astronomically bad, and have rightfully been the subject of internet mockery.
Here’s a sample:
With so much enthusiasm for the 2nd amendment in the USA, the least we should expect is to win every Olympic shooting event.

Exactly, and given our enthusiasm for the 1st Amendment, the least we should expect is for our top science pundits to stop tweeting such hot garbage.
The USA has 3x as many Olympic golds as Hungary, but 30x the population. Adjusting for this, Hungary is kicking our ass.

Twitter eviscerated the celebrity space icon for dumping all over America during the Olympics, and he totally deserved it.
Take me back to the days when @neiltyson wasn't so annoying.

@neiltyson For sheer volume of asshattitude, Tyson has half the brains of a normal human, but kicks all of OUR asses in that respect.

@neiltyson Have you ever interacted with a person in a social situation?

Hungary is the real winner because Hungary has zero Neil deGrasse Tysons, even when you adjust for inflation. https://t.co/dPl1wGncra

Tyson might still be recovering from the savaging he received over his proposal for a new “virtual country” called Rationalia in which “all policy shall be based on the weight of evidence.”
Earth needs a virtual country: #Rationalia, with a one-line Constitution: All policy shall be based on the weight of evidence

Neil deGrasse Tyson appears to suffer from a debilitating urge to ruin everything for everyone. He’s the worst, but at least it’s fun to mock him.
