Saturday Night Live throughout the years has been a consistent liberal bastion, taking sides in elections and aiding in the great forward march toward progress with their trademark hit — but mostly miss — sketches.
But this Saturday on Weekend Update, Colin Jost made a timid crack at progressive identity politics, poking fun at the absurdly high gender count we somehow wound up with.
“The dating app announced a new feature this week which gives users 37 different gender options,” Jost said. “It’s called ‘Why Democrats lost the election.'”
Sure, not the greatest joke, but this caused liberal Twitter to blow its top as this is a particularly touchy time for them (with Trump and all).
yes, the very powerful non-binary lobby is definitely the reason trump got elected. pic.twitter.com/SDwdCxLY5n

@evepeyser I'm so annoyed with this! Fuck whoever wrote that joke, fuck who cleared it to air and fuck the person who agreed to say it

Gross! But what these people should be really mad at is the fact Tinder only has 37 genders, when we all know the real number goes well into the hundreds.
At least these social justice warriors weren’t the only people who found last weekend’s episode unfunny. They’re already making great bed fellows with a certain sensitive, next president of the United States.
I watched parts of @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live last night. It is a totally one-sided, biased show – nothing funny at all. Equal time for us?

UPDATE: Jost responds on Twitter to criticism.
@PWRBTTMBAND so you think 100 percent of Trump voters were hatred and 0 percent had any other rationale?
— Colin Jost (@ColinJost) November 22, 2016
@PWRBTTMBAND in no way am I trying to. I'm on your side a hundred percent. Only trying to learn from this defeat and get stronger.
— Colin Jost (@ColinJost) November 22, 2016
@PWRBTTMBAND I worry about not doing any self-examination and making the same mistake again.
