Donald Trump is like the evil pigs in Angry Birds according to Jason Sudeikis, the voice of Red, the angriest outcast bird in the animated movie adaptation of the mobile app that is released today.

Red has himself been viewed by some to be a metaphor for Trump given his hostility to newcomers and his uncontrolled rage. In Angry Birds, Red, along with fellow bird misfits Chuck and Bomb, gets visited by a party of green pigs who want to steal the birds’ eggs.

But asked if he wanted the unlikely presumptive Republican presidential nominee to see the film, Sudeikis told us: “Do I think Donald Trump should see the film? I think everybody should see the film. He might be the pig!”

The Horrible Bosses and former Saturday Night Live comedian declined to go in detail about Trump’s similarity to a villainous pig but he hinted at the current discord afflicting the US political system when he spoke about the anger he saw around him: “There is also the type of anger that is being sold. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who know how to manifest their anger into positive ways and try to force change in their own personal lives.”

Angry Birds was surprisingly feted at the United Nations International Day of Happiness in March with Red appointed an Honorary UN Ambassador. Sudeikis said: “In thirty years time, I’ll look back and think ‘We were at the UN for Angry Birds! What the f**k was that about? I was shocked when the email came in but it’s great and you just roll with it.”

Other actors to lend their voices to the film include Sean Penn, Maya Rudolph and Josh Gad who voiced Olaf in Frozen. Gad admitted:”When I first got the call, I was really skeptical. I was like why do we need an adaptation of an Angry Birds movie? But this movie really doesn’t require a knowledge of the video game and goes so much deeper and is so much more funny and subversive than any of us who signed on to do it imagined.”

Josh Gadd, who voices Chuck, claims the animated take on the Finnish mobile app that has been downloaded three billion times, is more than just a cash cow for Sony: “The thing that makes birds angry is if they don’t have an inhabitable land to call their own. We’re really running the risk of losing the battle on climate change unless we act imminently. My hope is that global warming ceases to be a political issue.”

We shall see but that has nothing to do whether there will be an Angry Birds 2.
