In 2014, a Stockton mugshot went viral, and the hashtag #FreeJeremyMeeks trended on Twitter. Nearly three years later, the ex-con made his New York Fashion Week debut.
Meeks hit the runway Tuesday, wearing a black coat, fur collar, black trousers and black nail polish for Philipp Plein. On Instagram, the former felon thanked the designer for believing in him, saying, “Last night was epic!!!”
By deadline, Philipp Plein had not responded to Heat Street’s request for comment.
Meeks, who was found guilty of possession of a firearm after a gang crackdown, was sentenced to 27 months in prison. He had earlier served two years in prison following a grand theft auto conviction.
Since his infamous mugshot, Meeks has amassed more than 814,000 Instagram followers. He spent his time behind bars working out rigorously and posting photos on social media.
Meeks was released from prison in March 2016, after serving just a year. And even before his release, he had signed a contract with White Cross Management.
