A host of Broadway stars are coming together to record a song in support of the victims of Orlando reports Playbill.
The single will be a recording of Burt Bacharach’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” with all proceeds from the sale of the song going to the LGBT Center of Central Florida.
Some of the stars showing their support and lending their voices to the record are “Hamilton”‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sara Bareilles, Kristen Bell, Matthew Broderick, Gloria Estefan, Whoopi Goldberg, Carole King, Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Rosie O’Donnell, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rosie Perez.
Commenting on the news musical director and media personality Seth Rudetsky said in a statement, “The Broadway community was so terribly shaken and devastated by the horrific tragedy in Orlando. Everyone wanted to do something as quickly as possible that would truly make a difference…Our community of artists has banded together as we always do to show we can end this cycle of violence and intolerance. Love WILL prevail!”
