Hamilton, which has experienced nothing but rave reviews and glowing news since it opened about a year ago, suffered significant technical malfunctions for the first time ever.

A source tells Heat Street that during Tuesday night’s performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 21st century retelling of the story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, the sound kept going in and out during the performance of the Revolutionary War song The Story of Tonight. It happened during the first act of the Broadway phenomenon at the Richard Rodgers Theater in Times Square.

According to an audience member, the sound was affected by a fire alarm that kept going off. The music temporarily stopped and Christopher Jackson, who plays Washington, filled in the gap by regaling the audience with “a charming apology.”

Minutes later, the show resumed. This being Hamilton, the audience cheered even louder after the end of The Story of Tonight.

Last Friday, technical issues also marred the performance of Non-Stop by Jackson, among others. It was the last song before the show’s intermission. The song was stopped after a brief pause and then continued, and the problem was rectified.

A source on the show assures Heat Street the issue has now been resolved and whatever you’ve paid for your Hamilton ticket won’t be marred by sound issues going forward.
