Model Gigi Hadid just walked in her second Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and absolutely killed it but that doesn’t mean she didn’t receive her fair share of criticism.
Some have called out the model for her dramatic weight change evident when comparing photos from last year to last week’s VS Fashion Show.
Hadid attributed her weight loss to problems with her thyroid telling Elle she has Hashimoto’s disease, a condition that attacks the thyroid.
“My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year … it’s now been two years since taking the medication for it, so for the VS show I didn’t want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that’s good,” she said.
The skinny shaming comes less than a month after Tommy Hilfiger admitted to YahooStyle one of his casting directors ‘fat-shamed’ Hadid in 2015 choosing to dress her in a red, white and blue poncho that covered most of her figure.
“She doesn’t really fit because you know she’s not quite as tall as the other girls, she’s not quite as thin,” the director said.
The poncho ended up receiving millions of clicks online and becoming the best-selling piece.
“I’m taking a month off, actually, during New Years. I’m not deleting my account, I’m just taking the apps off my phone. It’s empowering, not just for people in the spotlight, for everyone.”
Her brief social media detox doesn’t come as much of a surprise after her best friend Kendall Jenner was followed up her driveway by a stalker while banging on her car window in October.
Jenner was granted a five year restraining order against 25-year old Shavaughn McKenzie who was arrested outside her home.
The 21-year old model was on a panel to promote Reebok’s campaign with stars Ruby Rose, Zoe Kravitz, Aly Raisman and Lena Dunham, who she regularly calls for advice.
Her slim figure was on full display as she took to the stage to perform a workout for the fitness company.
