Season 6 Episode 7 of Game of Thrones titled “The Broken Man” will air this Sunday at 9pm EST.
HBO gives us a tease taste with this plot synopsis:
The High Sparrow eyes another target. Jaime confronts a hero. Arya makes a plan. The North is reminded.
Here are a few spoilers and predictions for the next episode.
1. Prediction: The High Sparrow’s next target will be Kevan Lannister
Who else is in power that the High Sparrow hasn’t gotten his hands on? Kevan Lannister, the current Hand of the King, is the most level headed person with the most power in King’s landing and poses the most threat to the High Sparrow.\
Kevan’s son Lancel has already been co-opted by The Faith and is practically the Sparrow’s right hand man. The Sparrow can easily use this leverage to bend Kevan to his will.
2. Prediction: The Wall will keep Benjen from returning south.
The long awaited return of Benjen Stark was as badass as one could hope for.
Benjen obviously has not been north of the wall this whole time because he likes the weather. There has to be a concrete explanation as to why he abandoned the Night’s Watch.
It seems like Benjen was cursed in some way when the White Walkers stabbed him. Remember that The Wall supposedly possesses some kind magic that keeps the WW’s from crossing. If Benjen was somehow touched by WW magic, this same spell could keep him from being able to re-enter the Seven Kingdoms.
3. Jon and Sansa are going to Bear Island to drum up support.
Bear Island is the most likely ally for Jon and Sansa, not to mention its close geographic proximity to Castle Black..
The former head of the island’s house was Joer Mormont, the former commander of the Night’s Watch and Joer’s daughter fought for Robb Stark.
4. Spoiler: Arya will get in a deadly knife fight with the Waif.
Leaked photos from the set of Episode 7 reveal a knife fight between Ayra and the Waif, the girl Jaquen sent to kill Arya.
The bloody knife shows that someones going to die and obviously not Arya unless D&D want us all to stop watching the show.
5. Spoiler: The Hound is coming back this episode!!!
Episode 7’s title “The Broken Man” is most likely a reference to a speech made by a character named Septon Meribald, who has appeared in the books and is theorized to have saved The Hound from near death after being mortally wounded.
Meribald will most likely be played by Ian McShane, a man who does not give a shit about leaking plot details to the hungry public. He revealed that his character was an ex-warrior and would bring a much loved character back from the dead.
In an interview with BBC, he was asked whether that character was the Hound or Jon Snow. He responded with, “It’s not the latter, it might be the former.”
The Hound actor, Rory McCann was even spotted around the set during the filming of Season 6.
So basically, it’s totally happening this episode. Get hype for the inevitable Clegane Bowl.
Goings on of Thrones: Brienne’s lineage confirmed by GRRM.
This weekend at BaltiCon, George RR Martin threw a rare bone to the uber fans and confirmed a long held fan theory.
Brienne is a descendant of Duncan the Tall. If that means nothing to you, you need to get with the extended lore program already! Just kidding, it means you have a life.
Duncan the Tall is the protagonist of GRRM’s spin off series, The Tales of Dunk and Egg.
A fan asked, “Will we ever learn how Brienne descends from Dunk?” and GRRM replied, “Eventually. All will be revealed in time.”
Eventually meaning, in the next decade when GRRM finally decides to chill out on attending cons and write the damn books already!
So there ya go nerds. It’s confirmed. But will this play any role in the ongoing fight between the forces of good v. the White Walkers/Boltons/Freys? Probably not.
