Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers from Game of Thrones Season 6, leaked information from the set and Nostradamus level soothsaying.

Episode 5 had to be one of the most heartbreaking of the series. Not only do we lose yet another direwolf, but Hodor, the lovable half-wit as well. Bran now has to go on knowing not only was he the reason for Hodor’s untimely demise but for his lifetime of mental handicap.

But if you look back, you are lost, so the best way to get over our collective grief is to start theorizing about the rest of the season.

1. Game of Throne is about to get a lot more Back to the Future-y

In the episode we get to see the extent of Bran’s power. Not only can he observe the past but he can change it. By taking control of past Hodor, Bran was able to somehow link the two Hodor’s minds causing irreparable damage to young Hodor and thus saving the day (not really).

But does this mean that Bran can just start changing the past willy-nilly, solving all the realms problems with a few tweaks to history?

Not necessarily. All the scene showed was that Bran’s changes to the past have already affected the present story. Hodor always had a melted brain, therefore Bran was always fated to melt it.

So either Game of Thrones exists in a “closed loop” where all Bran’s changes to the past have already affected the present or an open loop where Bran can actively change the future.

Moving forward, Bran’s future past meddling could be explanations for other past events in the series, if that makes any sense.

2. Euron burned Daenerys’ ships.

burning ships

Earlier this season in Meereen, Daenerys’ fleet was set on fire. We’re made to assume that it was the Wise Masters from the neighboring cities at fault, but that doesn’t make any sense.

The Wise Masters primarily want Daenerys to just leave and sail home to Westeros. They even offered her money and ships to do it. So it doesn’t make sense that they or the Sons of the Harpies would want to make it more difficult for her to leave.

Then enter Euron Greyjoy who happens to know all about Daenerys, her armies and her dragons. And his plan is to meet her with a fleet and make an alliance or at least a pass at her. His plan wouldn’t really work if she already had enough boats.\

Euron must have set Daenerys’ ships on fire before sailing to the Iron Islands to kill his brother. This only makes sense if Meereen is operating on a different timeline as scenes in Westeros as Euron would have to sail a considerable distance in the span of an episode.

3. Leaked info says Riverrun will fall under siege leading to conflict between Jaime and Brienne.

Last year during filming the blog Winter is Coming reported from the set that a siege scene was being built around Riverrun, the home of the Tullys. In this episode Brienne is sent south to go find Brynden Blackfish , Sansa’s uncle, who has taken back Riverrun to convince him to send troops north.

There may be a hitch in that plan as Riverrun will be under siege with Jaime Lannister at the head of the army. Jaime and Brienne have been reported to share a tent scene where a disagreement takes place, probably due to the fact they are now on opposing sides of the conflict.

4. Margaery dies next episode.

This may be a long shot but from the preview of episode 6 you can see Margaery clearly between a rock and a hard place. The High Sparrow is making her do the nude walk of shame like Cersei right as the Tyrell army arrives.

Unless they have some kind of brilliant game plan for rescuing Margaery before the The Faith chops her to pieces, we may be seeing the last of the young queen.

And considering Cersei was the one who planned this whole rescue, Marge’s odds aren’t looking great.

5. The Night’s King is the same guy as in the flashback.

Episode 5 dropped a major bomb that almost could be overlooked due to post-Hodor-depression. The Children of the Forest created the first White Walkers as a way of fighting the First Men.

We see in a flashback the creepy little people cut open a dude’s heart turning his eyes blue. This man has an uncanny resemblance to the head White Walker, the Night’s King.

If you check out the Night’s King actor’s IMDB page its obvious that they are the same person.

So what does this mean moving forward? It’s hard to say. The Night’s King could be a Stark, the first white walker or both.

All we have is a story told in an earlier season by Ygritte.

“We Free Folk have our stories too. About how one of your King Crows found something cold in the woods, with bright blue eyes. How he brought her home through your Wall and declared himself Night’s King. Thirteen years he and his Queen ruled over his Brothers, making sacrifices as black as their cloaks. Lucky for you southerners, Free Folk rallied to a King-Beyond-the-Wall, as we will when need be. And marched on the ancient castle he taken for his own; the Nightfort. With the help of the Starks, we killed the demon and cleansed your precious Watch. And then they thanked us, and kicked us back across the Wall, as you always have.”

And good news! The show isn’t taking a break this Memorial Day Weekend
