The UFC has released Diego Brandao.

The former Ultimate Fighter winner was cut this week by the promotion, UFC officials confirmed with MMA Fighting on Thursday. This comes on the heels of Brandao’s felony battery arrest earlier this month. Sherdog was the first to report the news of his release.

Brandao, 28, was arrested in Albuquerque, N.M., on April 15 on four felony counts, including aggravated battery with great bodily harm. The Brazilian fighter is being accused of pistol-whipping and punching men outside of a strip club after being tossed from the establishment.

Brandao (20-11) is also facing a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission after testing positive for marijuana at UFC 195.

On that card, Brandao fell to Brian Ortega via third-round submission. The featherweight had won two in a row before that. Brandao beat Dennis Bermudez to win The Ultimate Fighter 14 in 2011 and has also fought the likes of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. He had a 6-4 record in the UFC overall.
