Curt Schilling’s firing from ESPN was only a matter of time. The former All-Star Boston Red Sox pitcher just had too many opinions that grated against the mainstream to hope to ever hold a job at an organization like ESPN.
The post he shared about transgendered use of restrooms angered many, but is also an opinion held by much of America’s right, not to mention the legislatures of a few southern states. Schilling’s post was tasteless and proved to be too much for ESPN.
But if you followed Schilling’s social media usage, this kind of post should come as no surprise. Schilling was suspended for commenting on ESPN for posting then deleting this controversial meme, seemingly comparing Muslims and Nazis.

Schilling later apologized for the post but it was clearly indicative of Schilling’s social media behavior. Here’s some commentary on the presidential election that is probably not safe for the eyes of mainstream audiences.

Neither are his views on waterboarding.
And he does not mince words when talking about liberals…

or Obama being the antichrist.
But maybe he’s on to something…
These types of posts are really just Curt being Curt. If ESPN didn’t want a far-right firebrand as an employee, they never should have hired Schilling in the first place.
