With Donald Trump moving onto other things, Arnold Schwarzenegger is now host of NBC’s reality show The Celebrity Apprentice.

The fifteenth season of The Celebrity Apprentice has been the most hyped TV show of 2017 yet with Arnie’s catchphrase “You’re Terminated” replacing The Donald’s “You’re Fired!” The location has switched from New York to Los Angeles and swapped Trump’s limo with Arnold’s “choppa”.

But The Celebrity Apprentice‘s two-hour premiere last night was down 44% in the ratings compared with the reality show’s last opening show back in 2015. 4.9 million viewers tuned in last night which was below ABC’s The Bachelor, with a dramatic Rose Bowl final also denting NBC’s viewership.

The New #CelebApprentice is about to get lit. 🔥

Controversy reigned over Trump retaining executive producer credit on the show and numerous online boycotts of the show were mounted, even given the President-Elect’s present polarized standing. But is the most important factor in the ratings dip the fact that Trump is no longer fronting the show?

James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly concluded: “To me, the most visible and impactful change is the host gig switching.”

Certainly the ratings drop coupled with the fact that petitions to cancel The Celebrity Apprentice only attracted 30 signatories would seem to suggest Trump was  as popular with Apprentice viewers as he was with voters.

Time will tell…
