On Tuesday morning, the Internet was struggling to digest the tragic news: Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after 12 years and six children.
Sources disagree as to why the decade’s strongest celebrity marriage is breaking up. TMZ, which broke the news that the pair was splitting, says the separation happened because Jolie was “frustrated” and “fed up” with Pitt’s marijuana and alcohol use, and what TMZ calls an “anger problem” that was affecting how Pitt was raising their shared children. Jolie is petitioning for full physical custody.
The New York Post‘s Page Six reports that Jolie hired a private investigator after becoming suspicious of Pitt having an affair. An unnamed source reportedly told the Post that Jolie discovered Pitt was having an affair with his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard, and that while on set for the movie, Pitt partied like a single man. “The atmosphere was full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it,” the source said.
Donald Trump has yet to speak on the subject, but Twitter is sure he caused the breakup.

Some, jokingly, speculating that Trump had orchestrated the madness in order to distract from his ongoing media troubles.

And some even speculated that Pitt’s recent comments about the Republican Presidential candidate—telling reporters that he can’t “bring myself to think” Trump could be President —might have contributed to growing acrimony inside his relationship. Jolie is mum on her politics, but her father, Jon Voight, is a vocal Trump supporter.
And then, there’s NBC News reporter Ali Vitalia, who seems to actually believe in a conspiracy theory involving Trump’s former assessment of Jolie’s attractiveness.

Apparently, Trump thought Jolie was a “5,” noting that “I never thought she was good-looking. I don’t think she’s got good skin. I don’t think she’s got a great face. I think her lips are too big, to be honest with you, they look like too big.” Trump thought Jennifer Aniston, Pitt’s flame before Jolie, was a “6.”
Trump has yet to weigh in on the breakup, but the Internet is also sure he will. It just depends on how good his staff is at managing the message.
