Amy Schumer’s new leather-clad Netflix stand-up special is getting pummeled with one star reviews. One even called it as “funny as an autopsy.” Ouch.
Schumer responded on Instagram by blaming the negative reviews on a shadowy consortium of alt-right trolls. She claimed the bad reviews made her feel “‘powerful and dangerous and brave.”
The comedian pointed to a Splitsider article which claimed that “alt right Redditors” were the ones who tanked Schumer’s Netflix reviews. The article pointed to three threads on /r/the_donald which didn’t receive very many upvotes telling users to give Schumer’s special one star. Not to mention the_donald is not an alt right subreddit, the actual alt right subreddit was banned a months ago.
“This post has nothing against the trolls,” Schumer went on to say on Instagram. “I thank you trolls so much. It fills me with hope and power to see you all furiously posting so as always accuse me of whatever lies you want. Call me a whale. Call me a thief and I will continue to rise and fight and lead.”
Interesting that Schumer urges her critics to call her a thief, as she has been accused of stealing two jokes in her last stand up alone, as well as many bits and sketches throughout her career.
Maybe the most powerful and dangerous and brave thing Schumer could do at this point is to write original jokes that are actually funny.
