Ten lessons from Sunday night’s episode of “Game of Thrones,” “The Broken Man:”
1. When you have a massive, kick-ass giant in your army you should probably mention him in your sales pitch to potential allies.
2. You should probably also mention the need to fight the huge army of dead people bearing down on you as well.
3. On the other hand, bringing up past history – especially the part where previous members of your family got lots of other people killed – is bad salesmanship.
4. So is trying to promise things on your “honor” when you’re a famous oath-breaker known as the Kingslayer.
5. Never try to bluff somebody called “The Blackfish.”
6. When you’re on the run from a group of assassins in disguise, hanging around in crowds is going to get you stabbed.
7. When Jon Snow starts channeling Donald Rumsfeld (“We fight with the army we have”), it’s time to start putting our faith in Sansa’s mysterious missive.
8. Don’t bet on the group of pacifist hippies in the war zone (but all credit to British actor Ian McShane for getting killed in the same episode in which he was introduced).
9. Jaime Lannister’s golden right hand is useless for holding a sword, but it’s terrific for punching people in the face
10. Every time a “dead” character like Sandor “The Hound” Clegane crops up alive and well, it means someone else is going to have to be killed off.
