Vogue Accused of “Yellowface” for Dressing Up Karlie Kloss as a Geisha

The unabashed Hillary supporters at Vogue have run afoul of the left, after dressing up white model Karlie Kloss as a a Japanese geisha in its “diversity issue.”

The magazine has been accused of “yellowface” for donning Kloss in white makeup, because that makes sense. Here she is dressed up as a geisha, a traditional Japanese prostitute in an unpublished photo.

Many are outraged Vogue decided to bring out this culturally appropriative attire in their diversity issue which claims to celebrate the beauty of all cultures and races.

Kloss was forced to apologize following outrage over her outfits.

“These images appropriate a culture that is not my own and I am truly sorry for participating in a shoot that was not culturally sensitive,” she wrote Twitter. “My goal is, and always will be, to empower and inspire women. I will ensure my future shoots and projects reflect that mission.”

As we have wrote about before in Heat Street, most people from Japan don’t care if Westerners dress up in Japanese clothes, they actually encourage it. But because it is a huge deal in Western countries, every time a white lady dresses in a kimono, people lose their minds.
