Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, for example, has been an outspoken opponent, and has urged team owner Dan Snyder to change the “derogatory” Redskins name.

Suzan Harjo, a Native American who is leading a legal challenge against the Washington Redskins’ trademark protections, rejected the poll findingsĀ as not “valid.” Others have sought to “unskew” the results.

Team owner Dan Snyder, who is hardly a sympathetic character in the controversy, said he was “gratified” by the results.
