Man ‘Full Frontal’ Episode Made Fun Of for His ‘Nazi Hair’ Actually Has Brain Cancer

Wednesday night’s “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” featured a segment that goofed on CPAC. The whole point of the episode was apparently to show how many conservatives are now actually dangerous right wingers. Producer and correspondent Michael Rubens walked around the conference and highlighted all the people who have haircuts that make them look like Nazis.

Among those called out for having “Nazi hair” was 20-year-old college student Kyle Coddington. What the segment didn’t say—and Rubens clearly didn’t know— is that Coddington is currently battling stage-4 brain cancer. He had just finished his first round of chemotherapy the day before attending CPAC with OUTSET Magazine, a conservative online publication. (Full disclosure: I used to write for OUTSET and am still friends with many of the writers there.)

Kyle’s sister, Megan, called out Bee for the video.

When @iamsambee makes fun of your brother for having “Nazi hair.” He actually has stage 4 brain cancer, but whatever floats your boat. pic.twitter.com/ULJC8nA3IX

Kyle himself also tweeted about it, albeit with a little bit of humor.

@iamsambee Also, it’s not a Nazi haircut. Richard Spencer’s is, but mine’s from cancer.

The video has since been taken down, but OUTSET Editor-in-Chief Stephen Perkins saved it and tweeted out the segment where Kyle was mentioned.

.@iamsambee and @FullFrontalSamB deleted their video. So here it is again: pic.twitter.com/pH4G2wbv9J

Earlier Thursday afternoon, the show issued an official apology from their Twitter account, but the apology was for offending Kyle, not for actually having a segment labeling him a Nazi because of his haircut.

We deeply apologize for offending @_that_kyle in our CPAC segment. We only learned of his condition today & have removed him from the piece.

Rubens also added an apology of his own, where he says the show will be donating to cancer research.

@KFoleyFL !!! we didn’t know – we sincerely apologize & have reached out to him, & the show is making a donation to cancer research inst.
